idle iron is a venue where people list and rent heavy equipment. We want the people who use it — owners, renters, and visitors — to be able to do so regardless of ability or the technology they rely on. This statement describes the accessibility standard we work toward, what we have done, where we know we fall short, and exactly how to reach us if something on the site does not work for you.

We are working to meet WCAG 2.1 Level AA. We are not claiming we have fully met it everywhere yet — this is an honest, in-progress commitment. If any part of idle iron is hard to use with your assistive technology, email info@idle-iron.com and we will help you and fix the problem.

1. Our commitment

Ridge Link LLC, doing business as idle iron, is committed to making the idle iron website usable by as many people as possible, including people who use screen readers, screen magnifiers, keyboard-only navigation, voice control, switch devices, and other assistive technologies. We treat accessibility as part of building the product, not a one-time checklist, and we improve it as the Service grows.

2. The standard we work toward

Our target is the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, published by the World Wide Web Consortium (W3C). WCAG is organized around four principles — that content be perceivable, operable, understandable, and robust — and Level AA is the conformance level most commonly referenced for public-facing websites in the United States.

We are working toward that standard rather than certifying full conformance to it. We have not engaged an independent third-party auditor at this stage; our assessment to date is based on internal review and testing. As the Service matures we intend to broaden testing, including testing with assistive technologies and, where appropriate, independent evaluation.

3. What we've done so far

Measures we have taken in building idle iron include the following. We describe them so you know what to expect, not as a guarantee that every page is free of issues:

  • Semantic HTML structure with page landmarks (banner, navigation, main content, and footer) so assistive technology can navigate the page by region;
  • A visible keyboard focus indicator on links, buttons, form fields, and other interactive controls, so people navigating without a mouse can see where they are;
  • Text alternatives and labels for interactive controls and meaningful images, and decorative elements marked so they are skipped by screen readers;
  • Form fields with associated labels, and error and status messaging written in plain language;
  • Respect for the operating-system "reduce motion" setting, so animations are minimized for people who are sensitive to motion;
  • A color palette chosen with text-contrast in mind, and a layout that reflows to a single column and remains usable when the page is zoomed or viewed on a small screen;
  • Plain-language copy across the marketing, help, and legal pages.

4. Known limitations

We know accessibility is never finished, and we would rather tell you where we are still working than imply the site is perfect. Areas we are aware of and continue to improve include:

  • Some interactive flows (such as photo upload, date selection, and signing) may not yet be fully optimized for every screen reader and browser combination;
  • Some user-supplied content — for example, equipment photos and descriptions uploaded by owners — is created by other users and may lack complete text alternatives that are within those users' control rather than ours;
  • Documents or features added in the future may temporarily lag our accessibility target until we remediate them.

If you encounter a barrier that is not listed here, please tell us (Section 7). Reports from real users are the most useful thing we receive, and they directly shape what we fix next.

5. Third-party content

idle iron relies on third-party services that we do not control, including our sign-in provider, our payment and identity-verification processor, and embedded web fonts. The accessibility of those components is determined by their providers. We choose vendors with accessibility in mind where we can, but we cannot guarantee the accessibility of content or interfaces served by a third party. If a third-party step blocks you from completing something on idle iron, contact us and we will help you complete it another way (Section 8).

6. Browsers and assistive technology

idle iron is designed to work with current versions of major browsers (such as Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge) on desktop and mobile, used together with current assistive technologies. Using the most recent versions of your browser and assistive technology generally gives the best experience. If you rely on an older configuration and something does not work, let us know — we want to hear about it.

7. Report a barrier

If you have difficulty using any part of idle iron, or you encounter content that is not accessible to you, please contact us. To help us respond quickly, tell us:

  • The page address (URL) or the part of the site where you ran into the problem;
  • What you were trying to do;
  • The browser, operating system, and any assistive technology you were using, if you know it;
  • A description of the problem.
How to reach us: email info@idle-iron.com with the subject line "Accessibility", or write to the mailing address in Section 9. We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 5 business days and to work with you toward a resolution.

8. Get help another way

If a disability prevents you from using the website to do something — create an account, find or list equipment, complete a booking, sign an agreement, or read any of our policies — we will provide the information or help you complete the task through an alternative method, at no extra charge. Contact us at info@idle-iron.com and tell us what you are trying to do, and we will find a way to help you do it.

9. Ongoing effort & contact

Accessibility is an ongoing effort at idle iron. We will continue to test, fix issues we find, and update this statement as the Service changes. We will revise the "Last updated" date above when we make a material change to this statement.
